So that’s it. We did it. Lets all collectively give a big WHOOP-WHOOP as the first working week of January is now officially outta the way and boy am I glad! As much as I had every good intention to start the launch of 2014 on a high, thrilled with the prospect of a New Year filled with new beginnings and opportunities, come Monday evening all I could think was “why can’t it still be Christmas?!”
My festive period was spent mostly horizontal, chain-watching films whilst mainlining Ferrero Rocher and perfecting my version of the Pret-a-Manger Christmas sandwich (the trick is in the crispy onions, without them you’ll come a-cropper) so it’s no wonder a month of no sugar, no booze and no daily cheeseboards seemed like a bum deal. However from time to time I did get off the sofa, if only to take my Christmas jumper for a walk and work up an(other) appetite, and this outfit post was taken on one of those rare occasions. I’d been on the hunt for a basic wear-with-everything grey sweater for a long time and when I unwrapped this baby from ASOS I thanked Father Christmas from the bottom of my heart. Paired with my-new-favourite polka-dot shirt from ZARA (for the eagle-eyed amongst you I even wore it in the last post), and a recently purchased wool coat from TOPSHOP, it made for a toasty-warm outfit perfect for a sunshiny-bright wintry walk.
Thankfully my week got much, much better and has continued on an upwards trajectory since, which I’m determined will continue. I’ve been eating well, mainly cooking lots of recipes from my Health Kick board on Pinterest, and managing to successfully swerve the booze and sugar. However I have to confess, I’m still longing for those cheeseboards!
